John Martin is the Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety (QEHS) Manager at Liberty Paper Incorporated (LPI) in Becker, Minn. John provides leadership and guidance for the company’s Business Management Systems (BMS); Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance; Risk Management; and Strategy Improvement. He also supports other businesses within the Liberty Diversified family of companies.

Since joining LPI in 2015, Martin has updated and integrated the company’s Quality and EHS written program. His work has ensured that LPI has adopted industry best practices and that the company’s procedural language meets ISO 9001; ISO 14001; and OHSAS 18001 criteria.

During his tenure, LPI has implemented risk-based management and has been recertified to multiple voluntary standards including the Occupation Safety and Health Administrations Voluntary Protection Program (OSHA VPP); ISO 14001:2015; and ISO 9001:2015. The LPI team reached these milestones while they were setting new annual year-over-year production records.

In addition to his role as QEHS Manager, John is active in many local and national organizations including NAEM; American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) (Northwest Chapter); United Way; Minnesota Safety Council (MNSC); Pulp and Paper Safety Association (PPSA); and the Recycled Paperboard Technical Association (RPTA). He also maintains Leader Auditor status for ISO 9001, ISO 14001; OHSAS 18001; ISO 31000; and ISO 50001.

John holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Saint Cloud State University. He lives in Minneapolis, Minn. with his wife and two daughters and is an active volunteer in his community.
