Gary R. Allen, Vice President EHS; Valvoline Inc.
Gary Allen is Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety and Regulatory Affairs for Valvoline – a leading worldwide producer and distributor of premium branded automotive, commercial and industrial lubricants and automotive chemicals. Valvoline, headquartered in Lexington, KY, has 5500 employees doing business in over 140 countries.
In this capacity, Mr. Allen is primarily responsible for staffing and leading the EHS team, enhancing Valvoline's global safety culture, successfully implementing the company's EHS audit program and providing oversight of the company's product regulatory and global trade teams. He has extensive experience presenting to Boards of Directors on EHS performance and related topics.
Mr. Allen has been with the Valvoline/Ashland team for 27 years, including 26 years with Ashland prior to the separation of the two companies that began in August 2016. Over that time, Mr. Allen has had leadership positions responsible for regulatory interpretation, environmental permitting and compliance, safety and health, sustainability, process safety, auditing, process improvement, remediation project management and environmental reserve management.
Mr. Allen holds a BS in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from the University of Dayton. He is a trustee for the Ohio River Foundation, is a Certified EHS Management System Auditor and is a member of the National Safety Council.
